Where Our Journey Began
Truc Lam was founded in 2002 in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam, by mechanical engineer Luong Chi Trung, who continues to lead the company as its Director today.
Before establishing Truc Lam, Mr. Trung spent five years working in South Korea with Hyundai, where he gained valuable experience in a highly developed industrial and manufacturing environment. After returning to Vietnam, he decided to apply his engineering knowledge and international experience to build a manufacturing company of his own.
That decision marked the beginning of Truc Lam in 2002.
The company started with a team of approximately 13 people, covering essential functions including administration and accounting, engineering, and production. Resources were limited, equipment was less accessible, and building a manufacturing facility presented challenges that required much more than technical knowledge.
One story from those early days continues to represent the spirit on which Truc Lam was built.
During the construction of the first workshop, suitable equipment and skilled support for some parts of the work were difficult to access. Rather than standing aside, Mr. Trung climbed onto the workshop roof himself and worked alongside the team to complete the facility.
It was a simple moment, but one that reflected an important principle from the very beginning: leadership means being willing to work alongside the team, solve problems together, and take responsibility for getting the job done.
From a small team of 13 people and a workshop built through determination and hands-on effort, Truc Lam began its manufacturing journey.
A New Foundation for Growth
As the company continued to develop, 2016 marked another important milestone.
Truc Lam relocated its manufacturing facility to the northern area of Nha Trang, away from densely populated residential areas. The new location provided more suitable conditions for manufacturing activities and created opportunities to expand the company’s facilities, machinery, and equipment.
This relocation established a stronger manufacturing foundation for the next stage of Truc Lam’s development.
From its establishment in 2002 through 2018, the company primarily focused on manufacturing and commercial activities for the Vietnamese domestic market. During these years, Truc Lam continued to accumulate production experience, strengthen its workforce, and develop its manufacturing capabilities.
2018 – Entering the International Market
In June 2018, Truc Lam reached a significant milestone when we successfully established a business relationship with a customer in Europe.
For us, this represented more than a new business opportunity. It marked the beginning of Truc Lam’s journey into the international market.
Meeting international customer requirements was a new challenge. Products were subjected to rigorous inspections and demanding quality requirements. During the early stages of the cooperation, there were occasions when completed orders did not fully meet the customer’s expectations and had to be returned.
Instead of allowing these challenges to stop our progress, we used them to identify weaknesses, improve our processes, better understand customer requirements, and strengthen our approach to quality control.
Our engineering and production teams continuously worked to address problems, improve manufacturing processes, and achieve greater consistency in product quality.
Over time, these efforts developed into something particularly valuable: trust.
A Partnership That Continues to Grow
The partnership that began in Europe in 2018 continues today and has grown year after year.
For Truc Lam, this long-term cooperation represents more than a commercial relationship. It reflects our commitment to learning, continuous improvement, and the ability to adapt to increasingly demanding international requirements.
From a 13-person team in Nha Trang in 2002, to the expansion of our manufacturing facilities in 2016, and our first long-term international partnership beginning in 2018, each stage of our journey has helped shape the company we are today.
Our experience has taught us that manufacturing capability is built not only through machinery and technology, but also through persistence, discipline, learning, and continuous improvement.
